It takes consent to get to the level where this thing resides, or you're just not willing to without their knowledge & consent?
I don't love the idea of them knowing what you can do, either. To be honest I think I'm about to the point where I'd advocate you hiding across the room and digging in to get us some actual answers, about this and everything else.
it takes some consent for me to navigate a person's mind without making a dog's breakfast of it but I'm considering roughly what you're at the point of proposing, but possibly while they're asleep
don't tell anyone about how I'm not objecting on moral grounds
I'd feel differently if it were a passenger, or someone who weren't potentially a massive threat/withholding crucial information. But we can interrogate them forever and even if we get anything could we actually trust it enough for it to be useful? Their privacy just isn't the moral hill I'm willing to die on.
Eszter is proving to be just as conversationally evasive in person as she is over the network it's difficult to cultivate good relations even if I ardently wanted to
regardless, I'll continue down this path with them and others. I have questions as you have questions. also I intend to relay my findings to the ship and so I will probably manage to collect some further people willing to be examined.
She sounds delightful. Casimir seems nice enough. If he's being evasive he does a better job faking ignorance than the rest, and seeming to be open about the fact that there are things he's not willing to tell me yet.
I guess now that it's basically confirmed they ought to know. Hopefully it won't be too much of an uproar. Let me know if there's any way I can help, since I've at least had more time to process it than most.
she seems like someone I'd want on my side therein lies the problem perhaps I'll try Casimir if those guarding him would permit. is he under your charge?
re help with anyone who seems unable to parse or is inclined to fight me on the point, I always appreciate a second voice but otherwise it seems straight forward. I'm going to keep my own opinions/conjectures out of it for a little unless asked directly

I'd like all of them on our side, ideally. But I still haven't come up with a way around the impasse that is a total lack of trust on both sides.
I'll keep an eye on it and jump in if I can help, let me know if there's somewhere in particular you'd like me as things come up.

but will bring the dog by first, if you're ready enough to take him
there's some extra bedding I'll offload on you too + some biscuits and food
