I've been continuing to look into the occurrence I found in yours and Felix's minds

at least as far as my pool of samples can guarantee
and in that I can detect the membranous psychic layer that should not otherwise be there
I can't check what is beneath it without endangering myself and the other person
but of the comparisons I've made, the patterns I'm able to discern include length of tenure aboard the ship, and exposure via recon mission, both contributing to how "thin" that layer is

I mean I guess in some selfish way I'm glad it isn't just me. I don't suppose now that you've looked at more you've been able to get any sense of how new or old the presence is? Whether it has been there all along or something has changed recently to cause it.

I haven't studied them yet -- you'll remember that it took your consent to do so and I do not love the idea of exposing the extent of what I can do to them, but there could be a way

I'd feel differently if it were a passenger, or someone who weren't potentially a massive threat/withholding crucial information. But we can interrogate them forever and even if we get anything could we actually trust it enough for it to be useful? Their privacy just isn't the moral hill I'm willing to die on.

it's difficult to cultivate good relations even if I ardently wanted to
regardless, I'll continue down this path with them and others. I have questions as you have questions.
also I intend to relay my findings to the ship and so I will probably manage to collect some further people willing to be examined.

I'd like all of them on our side, ideally. But I still haven't come up with a way around the impasse that is a total lack of trust on both sides.
